Shut The Front Door

By Treva Susuras

It seems in life that we just can’t to get it right. We worry and cry about what is happening in our lives that is wrong or even hurtful, and then we do things that will open the doors for the same thing to continue to happen.

We literally open doors that change our lives, some for the better and some for the worst.

For example, we open the door to sin in our lives. If you do not know what is a sin against God, it will tell you in the bible. God gives us a list for what to do and what not to do. Seems easer to do the what not to dos. But really, we do know what is sin and what is not. We open doors to sin and all that comes with it when we let sin in. Let’s just say we struggle with addiction. I know, I know no one ever does but just say we are struggling, and every time we get high or drink alcohol, we are inviting the enemy into our lives. Now this is not about I believe you can have a beer and bla, bla, bla,,, it is when you have the beer and how you act afterwards. Do you do things you would not normally do? What doors does it open? What thoughts come to mind after a few beers (or whatever substance you choose)?

Is your spouse good with the result? Do you bring fear and confusion to your family? You are not an island on your own… What you do effects everyone around you.

I believe you can love the Lord and still be in bondage. But it is up to you to get rid of the enemy in your life, be it alcohol, drugs, anger, rage, hate, negative thinking… I’m sure you get the picture.

Sin starts out with a thought, then turns to temptation, then eventually action… after that the enemy has you. Then the same enemy that convinced you to sin, turns into your accuser. He tells you how you failed again and how Jesus will not forgive…You opened the front door and let the enemy come in. You laid out the welcome matt. You invited the enemy in and gave him legal right to be there because you opened the door yourself. No one else opened it. Drugs and alcohol will not save your from the decisions you make for your life. Jesus will. Make sure Jesus is the only one with a key to your front door. The enemy is defeated in your life as long as you keep the front door shut and locked.

You see the front door is what is ahead of us (our future). Back door is what’s behind us (our past). Do we let the circumstance circle from the back door back to the front door? Do we keep doing the same thing over and over, do we bring things from our past and set them at the front door so we can do it again? Remember, the additive substance is temporary relief, But Jesus is a permanent life adjustment. When Jesus fixes it, it will stay fixed. Of course, unless we welcome whatever it is back in. We can give it legal entrance. Lay out the welcome matt.

One thing is hard to remember, if you are being tormented by something happening in your life, change it. You are the only one who can.

Do not give the devil permission to enter your house. Slam the door shut and do not answer it when sin knocks again. Keep it locked.

You can rebuke a thought at the beginning, meaning, as soon as you start thinking about something that is sinful, like lust, hate, anger, substance, sickness, whatever it is that you are struggling with, kill that thought right away. Do not entertain it because if you keep thinking on it then it will become a temptation, then action...

If you rebuke the thought and it just keeps coming or you have actually carried out the thought to an action, and can’t seem to get ahold on it, it may have become a stronghold in your life. you know a “strong hold”. If that is the case and you can’t conquer it you will need to reach out for help. Get a hold of someone that can help you. In His Hands Ministries is always open to help if we can. We will be happy to pray with you, or if you just need someone to talk to call 281-868-0537

God bless and have a great day!!
