Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Prayer
Prayer
We don't have to follow a specific formula to talk with God, but practicing different ways to pray can help us find a deeper purpose and connection to Him through our prayer time.
Every morning, evening or whenever you get a moment alone, spend time with Jesus. Make an appointment to meet with Him on a daily basis. The more you talk to Him the better you get to know Him, and the more you will trust Him. The closer you feel to Him, the more confident you will begin to feel in life. Prayer time is a very special time you GET to spend with Jesus, not HAVE to spend with Him. We should look forward to spending time alone with Him. Treasure that time.
IHHM will be posting several different prayer outlines to help you find the right prayer for you. Our goal is to help you get comfortable with different biblical models of prayer and for your prayer life to become more natural, effective, and enjoyable.
To make your prayer time even more meaningful, you can write notes and prayer requests and play worship music. The important step is committing to regularly entering God's presence through prayer.
Creating A Lifestyle Of Prayer
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.
Mark 1:35
Prayer is most effective when it isn't something we do every now and then, but when it's a lifestyle we cultivate. To understand how to have a lifestyle of prayer, we can look at the example Jesus gave during His life on earth.
Have A Certain Time
Jesus got up early in the morning to spend time with His Heavenly Father. Make a daily appointment with God - whether it's first thing in the morning, at lunch, or in the evening - and faithfully keep it.
Have A Certain Place
Jesus had a specific place He went to pray. Having a designated place to pray helps us remove distractions and frees us to worship and pray out loud.
Have A Certain Plan
When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray He gave them a prayer outline. We call it " The Lords Prayer." This outline, along with several other tools, is available. We are adding several different prayer outlines on this website. Try out the different outlines, find one that fits you and pray, pray, pray. Try a different one each day if you want, just be sure to stay in your word, praise and worship, and fellowship with Jesus.
And one more time, please know praying can be just talking with God. You do not have to follow a specific formula.
Just remember there is strength in numbers! So not only do we pray for our own but we should come into agreement with those around us. It is amazing what God will do when we come into agreement with others through prayer.
WE ARE ALWAYS STRONGER TOGETHER!
That being said, we have several prayer partners that will be glad to pray with you or for you, so if you have a prayer request we would be glad to pray for you. Let us know how we can pray
