What is Salvation

By Treva Susuras

Salvation is forgiveness. When the Lord comes into your heart and lives in you. He forgives all your sins. He gives you a new beginning. He washes you white as snow.

Sin is an immoral act considered to be a transgression against God’s law. Anything that would separate us from Jesus.

God has given us a rule book called the bible, if we read that we will find all the answers.

We are all born into a sinful nature. The hard part is conquering sin. The only way we can do that is through the blood of Jesus Christ. He can deliver us from the sinful nature. That is why God sent His only Son to save the world. And there it is, the part you thought we’d never get to. Salvation. You can’t receive salvation if you don’t know what you need to be saved from. We need to be saved from the penalty and power of sin.

The word of God tells us what is sinful and what is good. I could go through so many scriptures to tell us what not to do, but to make it simple, God is against anything that is immoral, anything that would harm someone, Lying, cheating, killing. I will be doing some bible studies on the basics of Christianity and my prayer is that you will follow along and have an amazing change for the better in your life.

You see sin is always there waiting to catch you off guard. It feels so good for a season then it is time to pay up. Nothing is free and that includes sin.

When we sin, it is most likely we are struggling in some area of our lives. It may be we feel insignificant, unloved, or insecure. Our past will almost always have something to do with it.

Sometimes we do things to forget past hurts, or maybe it’s just feels like fun. Going out for a good time could cost you your life or someone else’s life.

Being selfish and self-centered can be sinful. Putting yourself before God is a biggie. That was me in the past before Christ. I was sure I was going to grow up and be somebody. Someone rich, a famous singer, that was my goal since childhood. All I wanted was money and fame. That would make me happy. I played music in bars and sang in bands. I already had a drinking problem among other things,,, I will not go into as this is not true confessions,,, ha. I had no clue who Jesus was and didn’t care. I had 4 abortions, and never thought a thing about it till after I asked Jesus into my heart. No problem. But I was so miserable, but yet I thought drugs and alcohol made me happy. I did drugs, drank, and like I said many other things and nothing helped me find peace. I had 2 kids and after all the abortions, I found myself pregnant again, and then 18months later again. Although My life had changed dramatically when I found myself pregnant with the last one. (Grateful for them all now) I kept the last 2 as no way I wanted to have another abortion. I was full of sinful acts, and I liked it. Or at least I thought I did. Thing is I’d cry myself to sleep at night. I hurt those that I loved, and that loved me. I was miserable and I was searching but didn’t know for what.

Peace and joy, that is what it was but I had no clue at the time so I kept doing what I was doing. You see you don’t know peace and joy until you have had it.

Sin can cause you to live a lie, thinking you are happy when in reality you are living for yourself, for money, for another drink, drugs, basically another day of sinful pleasures. But at the end of the day, we all pay for that sin.

You may disagree with that but let me tell you it sure cost me. I lost time I could have had with loved ones that have now passed. It cost me time watching my 2 oldest children grow up, sections of my life I can’t even remember.

Now moving on because I have turned this into my partial testimony and that is not what the plan was.

Let’s get back on sin and what does that have to do with salvation? What is sin? It is offending God. Doing things that are not right. Do you know Jesus died to pay the price for your sin? We will get into that in a bible lesson. But He died so we could be washed clean from our sinful nature.

The bible tells us that we all sin and fall short of God’s glory. (Romans 3:23) sin feels good, if it did not, sin would be out of business.

The power of God in you is bigger than the power of sin in your life. 1 John 4:4 says, “greater is He that is in me than He who is in the world”. God already knew we were going to sin and that is why He sent Jesus to die for our sins. To pay the price we would not be able to tolerate.

John 3:16, for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Believes here means: to rely on, cling to, and remain steadfast.

Its hard to walk in freedom when we are bogged down in the cares of this world.

Now I hope that clears us any questions you may have.
