Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Redemption
Redemption
By Treva Susuras
The meaning of the word redemption is:
1.The act of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil. God’s plans for the redemption of the world.
2.The action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt.
Now, we all fall short of the glory of God, right?
We are all born into sin. In the bible Genesis 1 and 2 tells us about how God created the earth, and everything on it. It goes on to tell us that He created man (Adam) and woman (Eve). Now the there was an angel in heaven that was the most beautiful angel. He was a cherub and he was in charge of praise and worshipping the Lord day and night. He began to think so highly of himself he wanted to become God. God cast him down to earth. Now he is mans enemy. Full of evil and hate. In this part of Genesis, he is called the serpent (we will talk more about this in another lesson).
The word says of all the animals God created the serpent was the most tricky and deceitful.
The Lord had taken the man and the woman and put them in the garden of Eden to work it and care for it. God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden but you most no eat form the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
The serpent tempted Eve and said, “That is a lie, God knows you will become like Him knowing good and evil.
The woman looked at the fruit and it looked good and delicious, and she ate of it, then convinced Adam to eat of it also.
That is where sin entered the world. God gives us free will. He wants us to love Him because we love Him not because He is a dictator. He wants us to obey Him because we love Him and He loves us. He wants us to want to be pleasing to Him because we love Him. He lets us decide. So many people think it’s ridicules. I felt that way at one time. But now that I know Him on a personal level, its changed my life forever. Since then, sin has been in every person born. Remember sin is living independent from God’s standard, or knowing what is wright and choosing what is wrong.
Eve knew what God and said to her and yet she chose to disobey. Not only that she tempted Adam and caused him to fall.
Think about that in your own life. I’m sure you have been there as have I. Knowing something is right but choosing to do something that I know is wrong. And then making excuses for it. Well, its just a small disobedience. A small sin. Guess what people, there is no big or small sin. Sin is sin. If you know its wrong and do it anyway, it’s sin.
Thank God that he loved us so much He gave us a way out. He already knew we were not going to be able to be good on our own so He sent His only Son into the world to save us from our sin. How did He do that you might be wondering? Well Jesus never sinned. He knew no sin. He was tempted just like the rest of us see Matthew 4:1-11, but He was strong enough not to be taken in by the devil and his lies. He conquered sin and death to save us. He redeemed us. His blood washes us. He paid the price for our sin and now we are justified. Just as if I had never sinned, not only that but every time I do give into temptation I can go to Jesus and ask for forgiveness and He will forgive me.
Jesus paid the debt I owed. That is called redemption. Ephesians 1:7 says, In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
Galatians 1:4 who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.
You see, God can’t look on sin and He loves us so much that He sent Jesus to pay the price for our sin. Redemption. Please don’t get the idea that when we sin, we are automatically forgiven. God is looking at our heart. He will not just allow us to continue in a lifestyle of sin. We must ask forgiveness. Then He is quick to forgive. Jesus let us off the hook by taking our punishment so we won’t have to. However, we will still have to deal with the results of our own actions. He never said we can continue to sin and He will just jump in and rescue us from our own actions. He said He will never leave us or forsake us. For example, you can’t kill someone and expect Jesus to keep you out of jail. I have known in some cases that did happen but not always. If you have a jail sentence you will still have to pay for the sin. But what I am saying is that Jesus took your sin upon Himself so that you can have that forgiveness from God.
Jesus looks at the heart. Does your heart go out to the things of God? If not, then what does it go out to?
Now, the question is, do you believe you can be saved and washed clean? If Jesus paid the price for your sin, can you walk in freedom? That is the hard part, not walking in guilt and shame. Believing that God can’t forgive us.
