Face Your Giants!

By Treva Susuras

I have had so many giants in my lifetime it would be hard to pick one. I am not talking about a giant we can see in the physical but a spiritual giant. Something that looks so big you can’t seem to get around it. Something that if when you desire to do something in your life, the giant stops you dead in your tracks. It might be fear, or self-doubt. It could be a memory of past failures.  Everyone has giants they fight on a regular basis. These giants will stop you from having the life God has promised you. We give into the giants and run for cover when they come near us. Time to stop!

We are not born to run from things that hurt us or things that we fear. We run toward them, crash into them as hard as we can, our whole aim is to destroy them. It may hurt for minute but we will find peace on the other side.

I have found that we live in a land full of giants. About the time I kill one giant another one pops up. Really? Is there no end? Well, the answer is no. No end in sight as long as we are trying to serve the Lord, we will have obstacles in our way. But the good news is we get stronger every time we destroy one giant. We gain a little confidence. We learn that our strength is not in ourselves but in the power of the Holy Spirit. We can be confident in Him.

One thing we can do is study the strategy of the enemy. Know that he will send giants to us where we are weak. Temptation where he knows there is a desire, even if it’s a secret desire, fear where he knows we have failed before… He is the one sending the giants because he needs to keep our minds off what we are trying to accomplish,  and on how scary the giants are. How we are defeated before we even start. Look at David. His brothers were off in the army. They were facing the giant Goliath. This army was completely stopped because of the fear and doubt they had. No one was strong enough to fight the giant. The devil was in control because he had them all running scared. There was no faith to be found. All they could see was the fact that they were not strong enough in the physical to fight the giant. They were right! They weren’t strong enough in the physical but what about in the spiritual? Like I said no faith to be found.

How does this pertain to us? Well, I ask you, how many battles have you tried to fight in the physical, meaning with our words, our minds, our hands, and our actions that were impossible? Did you win? Did you fail? I have won some, and failed many when it comes to fighting my battles in the flesh. But when I fight in the spirit, I gain the victory! Thank You Jesus. You see when we are close to Jesus and we know His word and we have a relationship with Him, we win. Every battle we fight we win. Every giant we fight WILL FALL. Not because we are so strong but because Jesus is so strong. He fights our battles for us. He leads us into the wisdom we need to win. But we have to give it to Him. He leads us in our battle against the giants.

David killed the giant with no fear. He went to the giant. He had a relationship with God that no one could begin to understand. He knew he could win because he trusted in God.

Do you trust in God? Can you win your battles? Are you strong? David had learned to trust in God when he was a shepherd. God had delivered David out of the hand of a bear, a lion and so on. What has God delivered your out of in your past. Let that be something that makes you stronger not weaker.

Two ways to look at it. These things happened to me and now I can’t conquer the giants in my life. OR, these things happened to me and I made it through, God delivered me and now I am stronger than I was before. Come on giant, I’m ready because of Jesus Christ I am going to destroy you and you will never bother me again.

Don’t run from the battle but run too it! You can do it, because greater is He that is in you and me then he that’s in the world!

Today is a new day, let’s join together and destroy all the giants in our lives. Then let’s go join others to help destroy their giants. If we all stick together, we can win our battles. Remember David, it wasn’t his fight till he saw the giant was coming against the army of God. That made it his fight!

As I always say, if you need help, prayer, or ministry please give us a call 281-868-0537. We have a prayer team waiting to pray with you. Let’s destroy your giants!

 God Bless
