Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Cold Twig Or A Bonfire?
Cold Twig Or A Bonfire?
By Treva Susuras
Do you realize that when we lay down every piece of our lives, every piece of our hearts, God picks it up and perfects it? Romans 12:2 says to no longer conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then we will l know God’s will for us, His good, pleasing, and perfect will. Wouldn’t that be great? To know God’s will for your life?
There are so many times in my life that I have tried to make things happen that I think should happen only to find out God was protecting me from me and my decisions. When I try to fix things, it only gets fixed the way I think it should but God’s plans are so much more than I could ever imagine.
When we are up in the middle of everything, we can actually prevent God from moving because we keep getting in the way. He has a way of doing things we can’t understand. He is a respecter of persons so He will not force us to do His will His way.
Sometimes it’s a person we are trying to fix. We think if we keep helping them and making excuses for them, they will be ok but in reality, they need to know life does not revolve around them and what ever they do will have consequences. Good or bad. As a mother I used to make excuses for my children when they did wrong. I would always think… well it’s just because… or even being married to a wife beater at one point ( not now) … well he does that because when he was… yep, excuses, excuses, excuses. Making excuses for someone else who is mistreating us?
Who runs around making excuses for us? Anyone? Well maybe for you but not for me… when I do something wrong believe me everyone knows it and lets me know about it for sure, and for that I am truly grateful.
OR, how about a situation in your life that you can’t fix, best thing to do is the AA prayer, “God grant me the serenity to except the things I cannot change, change the things I can, and give me the wisdom to know the difference.
I can’t change the past, but I can change my future, and I can use the things in my past to train me for a better future. I can’t change loss of a loved one so I must find a way to keep living without them. Jesus has been here with me through all of the loss in my life, and there has been much loss believe me.
I CAN however change so many things in my life. The way I treat others, the way I allow others to treat me, my finances, the way I battle for my children and their salvation, and that they will all answer the call God has put on their lives. I can teach and train up my grandchildren in the Lord. I won’t go on because by now I’m sure you get the message.
If you are having trouble in your life with something, lay it at the feet of Jesus. If you can’t change it or fix it give it to Jesus to fix. He is our deliverer, our healer, our comforter, our Father, His love is unconditional, not earned but freely given, He has a forgiving heart. He is grace walking. He overflows with mercy.
Ask yourself I hang around people that are good for me and encourage me or people that bring me down? If you watch the picture above you will see the bonfire burning. The fire represents the Holy Spirit and the wood is us. If the fire is burning on all the wood it keeps spreading from one log to another. But if a twig falls away from the fire, it will smoke for a minute but soon it will go out. It gets cold. It stays that way until it gets pushed back into the fire. The storms of life will come , even if you are living right and serving Jesus. But the difference is He carries us through the storms and brings us back to the fire again. Some of you are that twig. So on fire for Jesus at one time and now just a cold twig. When storms hit your life, it overtakes you and brings you down to your lowest low. We separate ourselves from the very people that can help us and we try and get help for the ones that will drag us down. Let me assure you if you are around others that have that fire, you will make it, if not you will have a hard time. Epically if you are hanging with those that would take you away from the fire. Chances are they don’t know the warmth of the fire.
We all have a desire to live right, do good, and be happy. Unfortunately, not everyone has experienced that life. You don’t know what you’re missing till you know what you’re missing…
Sooo, lay it all down, give it to Jesus, Let Him fix it, let Him fix you! He can and He will. You have to do some of the work too. Get in church where you will be around others that are on fire, that can pull you into the Holy fire. Again, listen to the storm around the bonfire above. The fire keeps all the wood burning, the storm does not seem to be bothering the fire because it is all together keeping each amber hot!
