Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Worry,,, Me?

Worry,,, Me?
By Treva Susuras
My explanation of worry. When we stress or have anxiety about something in our lives that may or may not happen. Or, something that is happening that we have no control over. Yep, that’s it. Worry, worry, worry.
So much worry can actually keep us from our everyday lives. It can stop us in our tracks. And the sad part is, it could be something we are afraid will happen that is not even going to happen. God seems to work all things out. What we are looking at in our future will be our past soon. And if we take the time to look back, how many things did we worry about that never happened. It was a waste of time. You can wake up in the morning and things look very bleak, so hopeless.
The what if’s seem to come creeping in and stress us to the max. What if I can’t pay my rent, where will we live…. What will we do… then all of a sudden, wow, look at this I just got a check in the mail. We were at that place a long time ago, we had taken in 2 teen boys, and we already had our own 4 children. I was a stay at home mom, so things were tight but we made it. Then, one of the teens unplugged the freezer and forgot to plug it back in. All our food was destroyed, oh no, the what if’s started… what if we can’t buy food, how will we make it, how will we feed all these kids, on and on and on… well out of the clear blue sky came $2,000.00 check in the mail. We had overpaid something and they were paying us back. The church began to bring food and before you know it we were back to normal again. All thanks and glory to God.
Maybe that is not what you are worried about, maybe it’s a loved one struggling in a life controlling issue, or in an abusive relationship. Could be anything, and there we go, what if, ya but what if,,, we start to tell the Lord how to handle the situation and before you know it we are blaming God for the problem and not asking Him for the answers. We take it upon ourselves to fix things and get mad at God for not fixing it. Crazy huh.
Basically, what this means is that we don’t trust God. We may feel like he can’t fix it or wont fix it. There have been so many times in my life I have worried about loved ones so bad that I couldn’t sleep. My blood pressure went sky high and my blood sugar went crazy from my emotional eating. Worry, worry, worry, and let me tell you it did nothing to fix the problem, but what it did do was create more problems for me to deal with.
What I could have done and should have done is give it to God. You say that is easier said than done and you would be right. But my stressing, worrying and crying did nothing to fix anything. I had to learn the hard way to determine what I can change and change it, or what I cant change and right there is the problem. I realize I cant change it so I fall into worry and back to square one. Now what I have learned to do is to say, “ Lord I am giving this to You because only You can change this situation or person. Only You can make a difference. Help me to give this to You and never take it back."
Then after I have done that I will begin to do something that WILL make a difference. I realize in the flesh I can do nothing, but in the spirit I can move mountains according to Matthew 7. I can fight for my loved ones and win. I can come against poverty or problems with money, pray for loved ones, or break strongholds. You know, strongholds are strong holds that keep you from being close to the Lord or keep you in bondage. These can be addictions, drugs, alcohol, people, depression, despair, life controlling issues.
Thing is I can’t make you do better, only you can do that, but I can pray for you and watch to see what the Lord will do in you. Working with women in addiction or other life issues over the past few years has given me the opportunity to see Jesus at work in the lives of others fist hand. There have been women I would think with my mind I don’t know how You are going to do this Jesus but I know you will. Then sure enough, He does it. People are set free. Praise the Lord!! I have seen this time and time again.
If you are stuck in worry mode, you are not helping the situation. You are wasting time. In Ephesians 6 it talks about we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, against powers in this dark world. This is how we fight. God says we have the authority over the enemy. Luke 10:19. He didn’t give us the authority over the enemy so we could sit in a corner and cry. Yes it’s hard, yes you could get hurt, yes you could be deceived into thinking you are losing the battle but the Lord says the victory is ours. Don’t be deceived by the enemy, thinking , well I can’t do this… YES YOU CAN… instead of saying I can’t just say I wont because that is what it is. You can do all things through Christ Jesus that give you strength. Philippians 4:13. God give us power over everything in the earth, and in the spirit realm so why waste time crying. Lets fight. You in addiction? Fight it! You have a loved one in addiction? Fight for them! We can tare down the walls that hold us captive or hold our loved ones captive. We can win this battle because it is not by our power it is by the Spirit of the Lord,,, We win!
We are the head we are not the tail!!
