When I was working at a Christian rehab, we would have ladies come in for 1 year,,, some more… during that year I would see God’s hand at work in their lives and see the incredible changes. I believe it is because they were taken out of their everyday life and put into a new life. One of safety, surrounded by the word of God, other believers, prayer and praise. They were not allowed to talk to any old friends, or boyfriends. Not allowed to watch movies that were not G rated. During this time they would take bible classes and classes on dealing with life issues. By the time they were ready to graduate, they were totally different people. They still had the same personality of course, same person, but strongholds were broken, their thought patterns had changed. They had a good start. Some did fantastic in their lives after graduation. BUT… some did not do so well. I began to wonder why? When they were there they were so on fire for Jesus, then after several months they would be calling to come back. Some I would see were put in jail for drug related charges. These are ladies that now love Jesus with all their hearts, but what happened? I can tell you now that the changes that were made in the facility were not kept up. Their new habits became dull and old habits came back. They had surrounded themselves with people that did not lift them up in Jesus. Most fell into a wrong relationship. Basically, they went right back to what they had left behind. It only takes a short time to fall back into old ways. So all this being said, if you desire change in your life you can’t keep doing what your doing. You will have to step out of your circle and start fresh. Who do you hang around with? Do they encourage you to be a better person? Are you tempted to do what you don’t want to do when you are with them or do they support you in positive changes? Are you planted in a church where others care about you and are there for you when your down? Or do you run to old people and ways that have almost destroyed you in the past. Even if the people are different we have a way of finding the same kind of people. I guess I’m just trying to say, If you want to change you can, it will take work but I know for a fact you can because I did. I was one that would have talked you into something bad and pulled you down with me. Not because I was a bad person but because it’s what I knew. Just think if you get out of your mess, how many people that you love you can pull out of their mess. Wash your mind by reading the word of God and Praise Him every day. That alone will change your life. Link up with other believers. Learn all you can about Christ. Have you read the bible for yourself?
