Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Holy Spirit Fire
Holy Spirit Fire
By Treva Susuras
Have you ever had moments where you felt like you could take on the world? Like nothing could stop you? When we first accept Jesus into our lives, we are so strong, we believe so much in the power and the presence of the Lord and of the Holy Spirit. It’s like going from no-hope to hope. That’s exciting and then along the way something negative in our lives happens, a life storm, even to Christians, and eventually, we begin to doubt, feel hopeless, and so many other things. We sometimes wonder where did God go? I don’t feel like I once did. Why did He leave me? These by the way are lies from the devil as the word of God says He will never leave us for forsake us. Remember, God doesn’t promise to keep us from having storms, but He promises to walk through them with us. No-one wants a storm but they do make us stronger.
I used to work for faith based residential recovery program for ladies with life controlling issues, the ladies that would come in, (some of you are reading this) were so lost and hopeless. Then slowly, as they would study the word of God and enter into praise and prayer, they would become mighty in Christ, strong women. We would go to the churches to visit and people would want to talk to the ladies. They would ask for prayer from the ladies. One could actually get stirred up just by being around them. The excitement and fire these ladies felt would overflow onto the congregation.
As we visited different churches the congregation would love for us to come because of the fire we all brought. As these hopeless women would come to know Christ and accept His salvation, they would begin to have hope undeniable, unwavering faith, unconditional love, teachable spirits, and they weren’t afraid to show it. They know the Power of the Holy Spirit and were no longer afraid of this world and its troubles. They would spread this hope to anyone they talked to. Crazy how a Christian can be so dry, and that one touch, one story or testimony would change their whole way of thinking. Like a ray of hope being brought to life again. Seeing the fire in these ladies would be like sending a spark into a dry forest. These ladies would light the fire where ever they went. Have you ever felt the fire of the Holy Spirit like that?
Unfortunately, there is a way we can burn out. As these ladies would graduate and separate, some would go on to do great things. Several have made wonderful lives for themselves. But for some, their fire would grow dem, or be snuffed out by the troubles of this world or their lives. This happens to all of us. Even the most on fire people at church can grow uninterested in the things of God, they grow cold where they once were on fire. Usually, it depends on how much time we spend with the Lord. How much we try to live a life pleasing to Him. Studying the word of God and spending time in prayer and fasting. Worshiping every day, offering our bodies as a LIVING sacrifice unto God. There are ways to stay close to the Lord and be a spark that lights the world on fire. It’s possible, for everyone that loves the Lord to be the spark and light the fire!
In John 14:26“He will ascend to the Father and the Father will send us a Helper, the Holy Spirit, and He will be our power. You see it’s not by our power or our strength that we can overcome what the world has to offer. It’s by the power of the Holy spirit. Then, as Philippians 4:13 tell us “We can do all things through Christ who give us strength”.
I am sad to say some of the most on fire ladies in the facility I worked with has fallen back into addiction. Yes, the very ladies’ others wanted to be around, the ladies that would enter a place and begin to pray for others, over the place, demanding the enemy to leave… Some of these very powerful ladies have gone back to addiction, some have overdosed and are no longer living. This happens when we pull away form the Lord. We will never be perfect so don’t even try. But we can strive to be like Jesus, we will never make it but God is looking at our hearts not what we do, but how much do we love Him. What are we willing to give up to have this relationship with Jesus? When we fall down, we need to get back up, get back up, get back up… no matter how many times we fall. Never give up.
Jesus tells us to be the light. But how can we minister to others if we ourselves are cold. Ask yourself, have I grown cold, do I have that fire I once had? Am I a light in a dark place? Do I bring others up or tear them down with my negative thinking and attitude? Am I a spark that light the fire or am I the one that puts it out?
Would you like to feel that new love again? The love of Jesus, that spark? Don’t let your fire go out, surround yourself with others that believe the way you believe, others that will build you up, get in the word and study, study, study, praise, praise, and praise some more. Then Pray, pray, and pray. Don’t focus on the world and its cares, focus on the One who can change the world. You can over come any obstacle that the enemy puts in your way! Any life issue, oh ya , wait, I’m not just talking to those in addiction or struggle with life issues. I’m talking to you. Yes you. I’m talking to me. We are not The Light, that would be Jesus, but we are little sparks off His light. So, find your spark, then light the world!
