Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Am I Wasting Time?
Am I Wasting Time?
By Treva Susuras
I gave my testimony Sunday at church on Memorial Day and that started me thinking about the time I wasted with my son, Gordon, my daughter Dawn, my life … Those were special times and I missed them because I was living an ungodly lifestyle, caught up in addiction/ strongholds and so on.
I actually wasted the first 30 yrs. of my life… on frivolous living. Things I wish I had back I can never get back. Time with loved ones, gone, my son, mom, dad, sister… I missed the childhood of my first two children and the joy of watching them grow, but the one thing I can do is honor the time I have left with the ones I love now. Seek out the joy for today! Appreciate the now, live in the now. Don’t worry about tomorrow the word of God says it has its own troubles.
After I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, things began to change. I wanted to know more… more about Jesus and how to change my life, and I got more involved in my kids lives. I began to study God’s word every morning, then I applied that word to my life and I saw a great change. Strongholds began to break; I began to be set free. And who the Son sets free is free indeed. John 8:36
Today, I’d like to make this personal to you and to me by talking about wasting time. How much time have you wasted? On what? Think about it.
God give us 24 hrs., then right away when that’s done, He gives us 24 more, which turns into weeks, then yrs., then a lifetime… every minute matters.
There are things that are very important that I can’t remember because either I wasn’t there or I was busy partying. I can’t change that for me but maybe I can help you change that for you. At least maybe I can make you realize how important the “now” is. Your past is your past and there is nothing you can do to change it.
The one thing that you can do is seek help to resolve the past through inner healing (I can help with that) and give it to Jesus, then move into the “Now”.
Maybe you are not struggling in addiction but what are you putting all your life or thoughts into? Is it work, are you after more money? Are you in a marriage you don’t really want to be in anymore? Are you consumed with worry or life storms? Is the grass greener on the other side of the fence? Are you longing to be there instead of where you are?
Then think about that,,, and while you are thinking about all that, what in your life is passing you by. Are you enjoying you kids? Are you going on dates with your spouse? Are you seeking God’s presence in your life? Are you seeing the good things in your life and not just the struggle? When you wake up in the morning are you full of blessings? Do you wake up thinking …oh great another day to get through or are you thinking … praise God, thank You Lord for another day…
Instead of always trying to get on the other side of the fence where the grass looks greener, look at your own grass, and if it is dead and dried up, plant new seed, put some fertilizer on it, make sure it is getting lots of water… another words, take care of what you have right now. If you live in the now, nurture what you do have, you will begin to see how blessed you are. Your future will become brighter and you past will have pleasant memories.
Never forget to look at what God has given you, the most important … Himself, salvation, His promises, your family and other loved ones. Take what God has given you and make it better.
I’m not saying not to prepare for your future, we need to do that, but what I am saying is don’t let that consume your now.
All things are possible if you only believe.
You have a blessed day and if I can help you in any way just let me know.
